Hand-pulled photogravure
9 ½ x 6 inches (24.1 x 15.2 cm) image
15 x 13 inches (38 x 33 cm) paper
Born in Osaka, Japan in 1949, Kenro Izu now lives in New York. Inspired by the work of Victorian landscape photographer Francis
Frith, especially his photographs of Egypt and the Middle East, Izu had Jack Deardorff build him a giant 14x20" view camera.
These giant negatives are contact printed onto and-coated platinum/palladium paper to give lustrous and highly detailed prints.
