Donna Brookman is an artist whose paintings insist on both the materiality of paint and its power to evoke emotion in the viewer. Her work explores “ the elusive space between representation and abstraction” (Greenblatt), evoking both an internalized sense of landscape and the formal, rhythmic complexity of music.
Brookman is a long-time resident of Berkeley, California, and holds a BA from UC Berkeley and an MFA from San Francisco Art Institute. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, most recently in solo exhibitions at 5+5 Gallery in Brooklyn and Thomas Paul Fine Art in Los Angeles. Hide Bio
